We still have several articles of Haitian jewelry for sale. Just about all this jewelry was made by the wife of one of our Haitian friends. The photos below show some of the items we have available. If you would like to purchase something (Christmas is coming!) or if you are looking for something different than what we have posted here, please send us a private e-mail – info@hishandsforhaiti.org. The prices are very reasonable and once they’re gone, they’re gone. In fact, all the earrings (except for those that are included in a set) are gone. So if you want to order something, don’t delay!

A Kid for a Kid - Goat Project in Danda, Haiti
This project is already underway in the town of Danda, Haiti. Pastor Elima Etienne purchases a goat for one of the children in the community and the goat becomes the responsibility of the child and their family. The first offspring from their goat must be given back to Pastor Elima for him to give to another child (and family) in need. After that, the goat belongs to the child and their family without any other obligation. The cost to purchase one goat for a child and their family is just $40 US!
If you would like to purchase a goat for the Kid for a Kid Goat Project, please e-mail us at info@hishandsforhaiti.org.

Day 50
This is it - this is officially the last day of the challenge and we had 3 children chosen for sponsorship today - Andieulot Chery, Kislain Elie and Johnson Dugue. So that brings our count up to 41 children sponsored - still 9 short of our goal. Here on the east coast of the US, it's 7:47 p.m. so there's still more time to have more children chosen before the end of our challenge. I'm also willing to keep it open until 12:01 a.m. Pacific time so that means there's still 7 more hours until the challenge ends. We may not reach our goal of 50 but let's see just how close we can get.
So....who are you talking to RIGHT NOW about sponsoring a child?
Thanks!

Day 44
O.k. - so it's Day 44 and there's been no change in our challenge count since Monday. We only have 6 more days left in our challenge and we still need to find sponsors for 18 more children if we are to meet our goal. That averages out to 3 children chosen per day! I know we can still make this but it's going to take some help from everyone! We have never NOT reached a challenge goal! Let's not make this become the first time we've come short of the goal! Please - get out there and talk to your friends, post messages on your blogs, or Facebook, or MySpace, or any other groups you belong to that will allow you to post these kinds of messages. The kids need our help! School will be starting in Haiti in just a little over a month and it would be FANTASTIC to find sponsors for more of these children!
So.......who are you talking to and where are you posting messages about sponsoring a child today??
Thanks so much!

shoot....
I'm sorry to have to announce that the person who chose Mikerlange Jean has decided not to go through with her sponsorship after all. So, unfortunately, that means our count has gone backwards. We now stand at 6 children sponsored, not 7. Phooey! But it's still day 6 of the challenge and we're still on target for 50 children sponsored in 50 days so don't give up!

A New Challenge!
O.k. - so this will be a tough one but I know we can do it because it's been done before. I am going to set a goal to get FIFTY (50) kids sponsored in the next 50 days. If I've done my math right (which is always a good question!),that would put us up to July 24th. That's just a few days before the 1st payment for the 2009-2010 school year will be due and it would be WONDERFUL to have 50 kids taken care of before then. So what do you think? Do you think we can do it? It will take a lot of effort. Everyone will need to get out there and talk to their friends, neighbors and family members. I've got brochures coming from the printer any day and I'll be happy to mail them out to anyone who wants to use them!So......let's do it! 50 kids sponsored by July 24th! Ready.....set.....GO!!!

Our next trip to Haiti
Our next trip to Haiti is scheduled for September 28th through October 14th. This team trip is currently FULL with 24 people who have signed up to go as well as a waiting list of 2! We will have 2 separate teams going and they will each spend one week in Haiti although there will be a small handful of team members who will stay for the duration of the trip. Most of our team members are from Utah but there are also a few from Maine and California. Our work project for this trip will be to update the children in the child sponsorship program who are in the following communities - Terrier Rouge (Center of Protection and Secondary School), Paulette, Phaeton, Danda and Trou du Nord. We will also need to catch up with approximately 200 children who we were unable to see during our last visit to Haiti due to the Mardi Gras festivities. This should prove to be our most ambitious goal to date and will probably amount to close to 850 children to be seen! Please pray for the team members as they prepare (most are "newbies" - people making the trip for the first time) as well as the team leaders as they work out the complicated travel details of this two-group team.

Welcome to the His Hands for Haiti blogspot!
This blog was created to share information and to help spread the word about the needy children of Haiti. These children need our help in order to attend school. A small fee of only $40 twice per school YEAR can help send a child to school. So please consider sponsoring a child today! If you are already sponsoring a child through the His Hands for Haiti Child Sponsorship Program, please feel free to share your experiences here!
